We will be putting together the soldiers’ boxes on Monday 12 November 2007. Volunteers are needed to assemble the care packages at Mesa Systems, Inc. from 9 am until we finish. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old, and should contact Jennie at 801-737-0680 of feedunclesam@yahoo.com if they are interested in helping.
Thank you for visiting us! We would love your support in our
Christmas Care Package Drive!
The 116th and 145th Security Forces (SECFOR) Company Family Readiness Groups (FRG) would like your help! We are the friends and loved ones of hundreds of Utah soldiers currently deployed to Iraq. The FRG is a volunteer organization that keeps the soldiers’ families informed, involved and included while their soldier is deployed. The FRG also aims to increase community awareness and support for the service of our Utah National Guardsmen.
Our goal in this event is to send an individual care package to each Utah soldier for Christmas. They sacrifice so much and go without so many things we take for granted. We would like to give some of that back. Truly, the purpose of this campaign extends far beyond the gift boxes that will be sent; it is an endeavor to generate a sense of unity and community throughout this great state. Utah’s National Guardsmen represent more than just their own families; they represent Utah—
And they do so with pride and honor.
The assistance of families, schools, businesses, professional offices and associations and the community in general is being sought. Mesa Systems, Inc. of Salt Lake City has generously donated warehouse space for the storage of the items and the assembly of the care packages (scheduled for early November). They will also be assisting in the gathering of items by donating their SAMS (Store And Move portable storage units) as drop-off points throughout the state
Clearly, the success of this campaign depends on the involvement of the entire community. Families, schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and religious and civic groups alike are asked to show their support by assisting in this drive.
